UPDATE: A new binary has been released. It should fix the various crashes due to a race condition, mostly visible on SE/30. It also supports non-512x342 playback, but only in black and white. Also, the app name have changed to "MacFlim Player Beta 2". ORIGINAL: Welcome to the beta test of the MacFlim 2 tech demo -- now with sound! This is a tech demo. It *will* crash. It does not support anything *not 512x342 black and white* (ie: it will not even quit, just do garbage) In the following link, you will find: This README file The .dsk containing the Macintosh software. It is known to wokr under 6.0.8, but should work on most of other machines. A 1.5.1 .sit archive containing the same thing as the .dsk. Use whatever is easier for you. A list of flims, with several files for each of them: * The macplus flim file. This is used to play the movie on a mac plus. IT WILL LOOK LIKE SHIT MOST OF THE TIME. * The macse flim file. This is used to play the movie on a mac plus. IT WILL BE BARELY BETTER THAN THE PLUS VERSION. * The se30 flim file. This is used to play the movie on a mac SE/30. THIS IS WHAT I TARGETTED MOST OF MY OPTIMISATION ON. In addition, to avoid the need to download and transfer huge files to be disapointed, I added a mp4 of every flim *WITHOUT SOUND*. This can be played from within the browser (on Chrome at least). USe that to check if you care about the flim or not. Play it on a mac to get the full experience, including the sound and crashes. I have some semi-random crashes. Let me know if it works for you, or if you face the same issues as I have. What I am really interested in: * Crashes : "This movies got my machine to crash once/everytime at that moment" * Issues : "This movie sound clics at that moment on this hardware" * Success reports : "I was able to play this on that hardware" * In particular on configuration differents from mines (MacPlus with SCSI2SD 5.5, MacSE with SCSI2SD 5.5, MacSE/30 with SCSI2SD 5.5). Reports from other SCSI emulators, real drives or ZIP/Jazz drives are cool. * Any general opinions Here is the link: http://www.macflim.com/techdemo/ enjoy! --fred NOTE ON THE MAC PLUS: Only a few flims are ok for the MacPlus: - 2001 (the second half) - Adrian - Amiga ball - May The Force - Old Apple Ad - Pulp Fiction Dance (the start of the dance) - Sweet Dreams - The Neon Demon In other cases, it may be somewhat watchable, or partially ok.
